Swimming, Biking, and Running

I started jogging a little back in the late 60’s in Alabama and then a little more during grad school in Ames. It became a regular thing during the years in Maryville, then more so while in La Crosse. I participated in my first official running event during Octoberfest in the late 70’s, a 10 km run one year and a half marathon the next. Once we moved to Mississippi it became a more serious pastime. I began going to local, 5K and 10K races and started placing and often winning in my age group. Nancy did some also. One Spring we did 10K races 8 weekends in a row.

Nancy and I started doing Sunday morning bicycle rides out north of Starkville toward Pheobe, a 25-mile round trip. We continued this practice the entire time we were in Starkville. We also did 4 more RAGBRAI tours, more on that under its own subtitle.
